If the toilet isn't flushing and water is coming up through the tub or shower drains this is a clear sign that not just the toilet, but the main line is clogged. This could cause an increase in work and price for repair.

This does not always mean a replacement is required. Many of these instances can be fixed with a simple washer or new cartridge or stem. Washer being the cheapest, then stem, then cartridge, and finally most expensive being a full replacement. (a cartridge and stem are basically the same part it depends on the style, type and brand of the faucet as to which one is needed.)

The simple answer is NO the only reason you should need a new toilet is. A: the bowl or tank is cracked. B: you just don't like it anymore. Everything on a toilet is replaceable or repairable

Toilet Paper is really the only thing other than the waste that you should flush. NO paper towels, NO Pads, NO wipes (even the "flushable" kind), NO female produces, NO rubber gloves etc. If it says it is absorbent, then you really shouldn't flush it. Thats what you look for non-absorbent products only.
